George Trowell

George  was born in Hull, Yorkshire on 17th March 1936. He joined the Army in 1953 in the RASC.

After initial training at Aldershot he undertook an Air Despatch course at Swindon and then was posted to 114 Company RASC at Padinborn, Germany. Here he also passed  a parachute packing course.

In 1954 he undertook his parachute training at Abingdon and was then posted to 63 Company Airborne RASC  at Aldershot before being transferred to 23 Parachute Field Ambulance.

In February 1956 he went to Cyprus with HQ advance party and was stationed near Nicosia airport. His main duty was to escort and drive the Medical Officer. The work was mainly with 3 Parachute Battalion who were stationed a few kilometres away and engaged in searches, road blocks and patrols.

In November 1956 he went to the Suez Canal in Egypt and was finally demobbed at the end of that year.
