Darran
was born in Cardiff, Wales on 29th
January 1972.
He joined the Army in
September 1992 by direct entry into Parachute Regiment.
After
completing his training and qualifying as a parachutist, he was posted to
2nd Parachute Battalion.
During his five years
service to November 1997, Darran spent a long tour (2 years) in Northern
Ireland and also spent short periods in Egypt, Botswana and the USA, before
returning for another spell in Northern Ireland.
Darran was employed
throughout his service as an Infantry soldier, though in his final two years
he served as a Medic.
His discharge papers
give him a high Commendation.
