Les
was born in Risca, South Wales on 10th
February 1931. He joined the REME at Aldershot in 1949, but after a short
training period he volunteered to become Airborne and served in the 21st and
24th Sections in 6th Airborne Division.
He served with these
units in Egypt, Malaya and Korea and, after discharge, with the 10th
Parachute Battalion (T.A.)
