Roy Jackson

Roy was born in London on 10th January 1936. He enlisted at the age of 18 in 1954 into the Royal Pioneer Corps. His service with that Corps was from 1954 to 1957 and included involvement in hostilities in Cyprus.

In 1957 he became Airborne and continued until the end of his service in 1965, a total of eleven years.

He was first a member of the 1st and then 2nd Parachute Battalions of the Parachute Regiment and then transferred to the engineers in the 9th Independent Parachute Squadron. He saw action in the Suez, Cyprus, Malaya and Kenya.
