Association History

The Association was founded on 15th June 1975. It's first headquarters were based in a specially organised out-house, at the home of  Mick and Hilda Myram, in Altona. Affectionately nicknamed, 'The Doghouse', it was the site of many progressive forward planning initiatives until Mar 1985, after the untimely decease of Mick, the property was sold and other venues needed to be found. They all, unfortunately,  inevitably lacked  the 'at  home' atmosphere of the original venue.

The Co-Founder, (with Jack Hampshire, now deceased) and first President was Stan Jones, who presided over the Association affairs until succeeded by Bill Warren,  (now deceased),  in 1979. The first Secretary, Bob Barnett, is, unfortunately, also now deceased. The first Treasurer, 'Johnny' Johnstone, is, happily, still going strong.

The outstanding events in the life of the Association were, the first National Rally, organised by the Pegasus Association of South Australia, which was held in Adelaide in September 1981,  the dedication of a  Airborne Forces Memorial on 17th  September 1984,  a National Rally in 1984 at Sydney and a National Rally in Victoria in 1987.
